The narrative is enhanced by some very clear, frank and somewhat confronting photographs of some of the people mentioned in the text. Her story reminds me once again of Rumpole's wise dictum: 'Never plead guilty!' Louise maintained her innocence throughout the exhaustive investigation. However, despite lost evidence, inconclusive autopsy results and medical controversy of Shaken Baby Syndrome, the prosecution built a strong case. After being advised that a guilty verdict and jail sentence were likely, Louise reluctantly accepted a plea of involuntary manslaughter. This is the other side of her story. Includes sketches of such implements of torture as the head-holder designed to force the child's head straight, a shoulder band to keep the shoulders pulled back, a belt to keep the child stretched taut while asleep and a device worn by the child while working at a table, etc. This copy is falling apart but all pages have been checked and are present.
