Fanshaw walked alone from Egypt to Uganda, recording the music of fifty tribes and produced African Sanctus, a popular modern choral work. Enlivened with bw and colour photos and pen sketches by the author. This copy has a signed message and sketch to 'Gail' in the front - penned by the author with his idiosyncratic touch; it occupies the whole of the inside front cover. Anyone with Irish roots will love this book, which is, appropriately, bound in green cloth. The cloth has very slight fading on one edge but is otherwise excellent as is the spine gilt lettering. The dust-jacket is worn and somewhat damaged at upper edge but fair and useful still.
